Job Description
South West Healthcare (SWH) is the leading acute referral centre for the South West Region, home to a Deakin Clinical School, and the region's largest employer. We are offering an outstanding opportunity for a salaried Specialist Gastroenterologist to join our dedicated team.
About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, team-oriented, and enthusiastic Specialist Gastroenterologist to provide high-quality clinical services at SWH. Services provided will include Outpatient sessions endoscopy sessions in Upper and lower GI endoscopy; participation on the week day gastroenterology consultation roster and teaching junior doctors and undergraduates. This position forms part of a collaborative team of specialists, you will play a key role in expanding and enhancing gastroenterology services at SWH.
Position Overview
- Appointments up to Full Time

What You Bring
- AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner
- Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP) or an equivalent specialist qualification
- Extensive experience in gastroenterology, ensuring confident practice in a regional setting
- A commitment to quality improvement and best practice in gastroenterology
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and team-building skills
- Experience in training and mentoring junior medical staff
