About the role: 

The Project Officer plays a pivotal role in supporting the operational efficiency of the Health Regulator branch. As part of the Business Services team, they act as the central coordination point—the “front door”—for internal and external communications, ensuring timely triage and resolution of enquiries, requests, and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inbox Management: Monitor and triage incoming communications, including—but not limited to—queries related to permits, licensing, and registration.
• Answering duty holder queries on legislation including the Radiation Act 2005, Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008, and other relevant legislation.
• Level 1 IT support (occasional) for permit and licensing systems for radiation, pesticide and cooling tower regulation
• Asset Coordination: Manage vehicles and essential/emergency equipment.
• Documentation & Reporting: Prepare briefings, correspondence, weekly reports, maintain registers and emergency rosters.
• Corporate Reporting: Support the Health Regulator's reporting obligations.
• Procurement & Finance: Process bookings, purchases, invoices and contracts.
• Administrative Support: Provide high-level administrative assistance as required.

Qualification/Specialist Expertise

• A background in regulatory or public policy work, along with knowledge of relevant government legislation, is highly beneficial.

• A sound understanding of the Victorian health system and familiarity with departmental operations, processes, and information systems will support effective performance in this role.
