About the role
We're looking for an experienced senior lawyer to step into this leadership role and provide high quality legal services to the Western suburbs. This is a rewarding opportunity to combine your legal expertise with leadership and people management in a role that makes a meaningful difference in the community.
In this role, you will oversee a team focused on criminal law and family violence matters. Working alongside other Deputy Managing Lawyers, you'll be responsible for providing expert legal advice and advocacy while supervising and mentoring junior and senior lawyers.
This role is based at our Sunshine office on Wurundjeri Country with regular travel to Wyndham Law Courts.

About you
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- A current unrestricted Australian practising certificate which entitles you to practise in Victoria as a government legal practitioner (mandatory).
- Entitled to practise in federal courts and courts exercising federal jurisdiction (entry on the High Court's Register of Practitioners).
- A proven ability to develop, motivate, and manage a diverse team effectively, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Substantial experience in criminal law and/or civil law with a demonstrated capacity to handle complex legal matters as a senior lawyer.
- Experience in supervising and mentoring staff to enhance their professional growth.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders, including clients from disadvantaged backgrounds.
