Position Details
THE ROLE
The Director, Office for Youth in Disability Homes, Veterans and Youth branch, is responsible for leading a unit to deliver on portfolio objectives that affect young Victorians aged 12-25 and to actively elevate the voices of young people on the issues important to them.
The position works closely with the Disability, Fairness and Emergency Management executive team, across government and with key stakeholders in the youth sector to deliver outcomes that improve the social and economic participation of all young Victorians.
The position requires a sound understanding of government or other relevant organisational environments, public policy (particularly social policy), community engagement, budget management, program design and delivery, grants management, and demonstrated leadership and management capability.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Provide authoritative advice on complex policy and budget issues to the Minister for Youth, the Secretary, Deputy Secretary and senior leadership across the department on significant issues including strategic implications and options for addressing Youth policy conflicts.
- Identify emerging youth policy issues and develop, coordinate and implement strategic policy projects and programs within budget in a sensitive and time pressured environment.
- Drive the delivery of key priorities in a government environment through the effective use of process, planning and liaison to achieve deadline-driven outputs without sacrificing quality.
