Position Details
THE ROLE
The Principal Adviser works independently as part of a small team responsible for a range of matters related to the department's disability sector relationships and system strategy, and legacy responsibilities. The Principal Adviser will play a key role in maintaining the department's relationships with sector partners, engaging with internal and external disability sector stakeholders to understand and respond to current and future issues, and will build sector relationships by establishing a Community of Practice.
The Principal Adviser will play a key role in the department's national disability system strategy and policy, working in close consultation with other lead teams in DRCN on market issues and reform. A strong understanding of community service systems and strategy will be important, as well as experience in system reform and expertise in intergovernmental strategy and negotiation.
The Principal Adviser will use highly developed written, policy, stakeholder and systems thinking skills to develop government policy. The Principal Adviser will also work closely with the manager to support legacy disability programs and enquiries.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Plan and facilitate a community of practice to engage with the sector on issues relevant to the portfolio and to support Victorian government responses on Commonwealth policy reform.
- Provide strategic leadership on market and system issues and lead and contribute to intergovernmental strategy and policy on these issues.
- Support management of legacy disability programs and enquiries.
