Position Title: Associate Nurse Unit Manager – Aged Care
Classification: YW11 – YW12
Salary per hour: $60.93 to $62.99 + superannuation + generous salary packaging options
Employment Type: Fixed Term Contract Part-time up to 72 hours per fortnight until 29th November 2026
Award: Nurses and Midwives (Victorian Public Health Sector) (Single Interest Employers) Enterprise Agreement 2024 -2028
Role description
Cohuna District Hospital is seeking an experienced and motivated Associate Nurse Unit Manager (ANUM) to join our Residential Aged Care team.
This key leadership role supports the Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) in delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care while ensuring the efficient operation of the service. The ANUM provides clinical leadership, guidance, and support to the nursing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Working within our Residential Aged Care service, you will oversee the delivery of comprehensive and holistic care, provide expert clinical assessment and support for residents with acute and complex care needs, and contribute to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for residents, families, and staff.
The successful applicant will work closely with the NUM, Director of Clinical Services, medical practitioners, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with professional, accreditation, and organisational standards. In addition, the ANUM will contribute to workforce development, clinical governance, quality improvement initiatives, and the ongoing enhancement of resident outcomes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a registered nurse with strong clinical and leadership skills who is passionate about aged care and committed to delivering exceptional resident-focused services within a rural health setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide clinical leadership and operational support to the NUM.
- Coordinate and supervise the delivery of high-quality resident care.
- Support, mentor, and develop nursing and care staff.
- Promote clinical excellence, safety, and quality improvement.
- Assist with workforce management and day-to-day service operations.
Collaborate effectively with residents, families, medical practitioners, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support compliance with Aged Care Quality Standards and organisational policies.
About you
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australian and current practicing
Essential:
- Extensive experience (minimum 5 years) in clinical nursing
- ALS Certified (or completion on successful appointment to role)
Desirable:
- Completion or working towards post graduate qualification in a related field or equivalent
- Current membership of relevant professional organization(s) desirable
