About the opportunity  

We have an exciting Permanent, Full-Time opportunity for an experienced electricity network asset inspector to join Energy Safe Victoria's Infrastructure Inspections departmentas a Compliance Officer (Electricity Network Assets). Reporting to the Infrastructure Compliance Manager, you will play a key role in monitoring the safety and compliance of Victoria's electricity distribution networks. 

In this field-based role, your primary objective will be toinspect electricity network assets to confirm compliance with industry standards and legislation. Other duties will include responding to network incidents, assist with auditing processes and contribute to enforcement activities where required. Working closely with industry stakeholders, electricity distribution businesses and other regulators, you will help ensure network operators are meeting their obligations and delivering safe outcomes for Victorian communities.

What you'll contribute  

As a Compliance Officer (Electricity Network Assets), you will support Energy Safe Victoria's regulatory oversight of Victoria's electricity distribution network, helping identify risks, improve industry compliance and deliver safer outcomes for the community. In this role you will: 

• Perform inspections of electricity network infrastructure, analyseresults and findings, generatereports, and record results into Energy Safe databases.  
• Respond toand review the circumstance of electricity network incidents to identifypotential breaches of energy safety legislation 
• Exercise appropriate powers to issue noncompliance and observations to prevent or stop unsafe situations and monitoring progress of corrective actions to mitigate potential risks. 
• Prepare compliance reports related to inspections and audits findings and ensure closure and rectification of findings.   
• Present evidence and information to support enforcement action where relevant. This includes assisting with investigations and attending court as an informant where required. 
• Develop and manage effective relationships with major electricity company asset inspectors, internal and industry stakeholders and other regulators. 
• Represent Energy Safe at forums, such as trade events or conferences to promote Energy Safe programs and initiatives.  
• Participate in the development and implementation of electricity network asset inspection programs and schedules, risk management practices, processes and controls and to ensure effective and accurate data management practices. 
• Contribute to the development and improvement of legislation, regulations, standards, codes, and practices.  
• Participate in the Energy Safe availability roster and carry out availability duties as required. 
• Other relevant duties as required. 

To be successful 

We're looking for an experienced electricity network asset inspector. You'll bring a practical understanding of network infrastructure, sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and the confidence to engage with industry stakeholders to drive improved safety outcomes. To be successful, you will have: 

• Certificate 2 in ESI – Asset Inspection (UET20612) 
• Significant inspection and auditing experience in the electricity distribution industry.  
• Sound knowledge of relevant Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice with ability to interpret and apply where applicable. 
• Experience with or exposure to, quality assurance and risk management frameworks, as they relate to electricity network asset inspection practices. 
• High level communication, advocacy and dispute resolution skills that fosters effective relationships. 
• Ability to prepare reports and present to a diverse range of stakeholders or act as subject matter expert with respect to electricity network asset inspection practices.  
• Ability to analyse and problem-solve issues.  
• Interpersonal skills, including an ability to influence and keep internal and external stakeholders informed on safety matters.   
• Excellent organisational and planning skills.  
• Computer literacy including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
