About us

Victims, Redress and System Reform (VRSR) is a part of the Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination Division of the Department of Justice and Community Safety and is responsible for coordinating a suite of services for victims of crime, including an information, support and referral service for all victims of reported and unreported crimes through the Victims of Crime Helpline (Helpline), as well as funding state-wide services to provide eligible victims with flexible case management services to meet the practical, emotional and psychological needs of victims to help manage the effects of crime.

The Helpline offers information, support and referrals and is the first step for victims of crime to access free services in Victoria. The Helpline is pivotal in linking victims to services, ensuring they receive personalised, timely and appropriate support to manage the effects of violent crime.

 What you will do

As family violence practice lead, you will guide practice across the helpline team. You will help staff assess risk, plan safety and provide timely support.

You will:

• provide clear leadership, coaching and guidance to helpline staff
• support complex family violence cases and help staff make sound decisions
• assess L17 referrals, identify risks and review who used violence
• develop tailored safety plans and make suitable referrals for male victims
• improve practice, records, data use and service responses across the helpline.

About you

You need a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification that meets specialist family violence requirements. You also need to have completed the MARAM framework, including risk assessment and predominant aggressor identification.

You should also have:

• at least four years of paid family violence practice experience, including work with crime victims
• strong risk assessment skills, with experience in intake, referrals and complex family violence cases
• sound knowledge of family violence, Victorian laws, services and information-sharing duties
• strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to coach staff and improve practice.
