About us
Corrections Victoria Intelligence Service (CVIS) is the overarching intelligence service for Corrections Victoria (CV) and its stakeholders. CVIS is comprised of the primary intelligence unit known as the Corrections Victoria Intelligence Unit (CVIU) as well as localised prison intelligence units and within Post Sentence Facilities across Victoria.
This position is based primarily at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Centre. There will be a requirement to attend other CV and YJ locations, including other CVIU offices in Ravenhall and Melbourne CBD, as well as other Youth Justice facilities
What you will do
As intelligence officer, you will gather and assess information for youth justice and corrections. You will turn information into clear intelligence that helps guide safe decisions.
You will:
- collect, record and analyse important information about risks, incidents and trends
- prepare clear intelligence reports and briefings for senior managers and authorised agencies
- support planned intelligence-led operations that help manage risks and protect people
- maintain accurate registers, records and systems used to manage intelligence tasks
- help improve intelligence systems, share your knowledge and support staff through training.
About you
You need relevant tertiary qualifications or strong knowledge in a relevant field. You also need a current Working with Children Check or obtain one before starting.
You need a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance or obtain one within 12 months. You must complete the internal Introduction to Analysis training within six months.
You should also have:
- knowledge of youth justice and corrections, including key issues affecting these services
- intelligence skills and an understanding of how intelligence supports criminal justice work
- strong information skills, including Microsoft Office and information management systems
- sound judgement and communication skills, with a flexible and inclusive approach to teamwork.
