About the role: 

This is a unique opportunity to work at the centre of decision-making in one of the Victorian Government's largest and most complex departments.

As Briefing Adviser in the Deputy Secretary's Office, you will support the flow of information and advice to the Deputy Secretary, Secretary and Minister on some of Victoria's most significant health policy, budget, finance and investment matters. You will play a key role in ensuring executive and ministerial briefings are clear, strategic, evidence-based and support timely decision-making.

Working closely with senior executives and subject matter experts across the Budget, Finance and Investment division, you will review and strengthen written advice, coordinate high-priority requests, monitor emerging issues and help drive high standards of governance and responsiveness across the division.

This role offers exceptional exposure to senior leaders, strategic priorities and government decision-making processes. It is an outstanding opportunity for someone looking to build their experience in policy, governance, executive advisory or public administration within a fast-paced executive environment.

About you:

You are a highly organised and curious professional with strong judgement, excellent communication skills and a passion for helping government make informed decisions.

You will bring:

• Outstanding written communication and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear, concise and compelling advice.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to quickly understand complex policy, financial, operational or strategic issues.
• Experience preparing, coordinating or quality assuring briefings, correspondence, ministerial or executive advice, or similar high-quality written products.
• Excellent organisational skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities, monitor deadlines and coordinate work across multiple stakeholders.
• Sound judgement and the confidence to identify risks, escalate issues and support effective decision-making.
• Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of the organisation.
