Senior Data Insights Analyst, Mental Health Performance and Commissioning

About the role: 

The Senior Data Insights Analyst provides advanced analysis and reporting to strengthen performance oversight of Victorian Government funded mental health and wellbeing services. The role interprets complex datasets, develops actionable insights, and contributes evidence that shapes commissioning decisions and system improvement. Working closely with internal and external stakeholders and the Performance and Commissioning team, the analyst enhances data quality, identifies trends and risks, and supports high-quality advice and reports that advance organisational priorities and sector accountability.

About you:

• Uses specialist knowledge within a confined field to challenge policies and professional concepts. Applies complex concepts to policy development or research.
• Drafts and develops material including the preparation of Cabinet and Cabinet related material, Ministerial and Secretary briefings and meeting papers, agendas, minutes and reports.
• Negotiates with stakeholders and peers with the object of gaining co-operation and meeting timelines for delivery of project, service or advice.

Qualifications/Specialist Expertise:

• Tertiary qualifications in a quantitative discipline (or extensive equivalent work experience) are essential.
• Demonstrated experience in analysing complex datasets, developing data‑driven insights, and supporting program or service performance functions is essential, particularly in a public sector or community services context
• Advanced expertise in SQL, R, and/or Python, is essential. Familiarity with health datasets, Databricks, Microsoft Azure and with data visualisation tools such as Power BI is desirable.
