Position Details

IBAC, Victoria's anti-corruption agency is responsible for preventing and exposing public sector corruption and police misconduct. We do this by:

  • Investigating corruption and police misconduct
  • Informing the public sector, police and the community about the risks and impacts of corruption and police misconduct, and ways in which it can be prevented.

After a successful first five years, IBAC is focused on further maturing the organisation as a leading public sector anti-corruption and police oversight body. IBAC requires a passionate and dedicated professional for the key leadership role of Director Legal. Reporting to the CEO you will lead and coordinate a team of staff to provide timely appropriate legal advice and other services to the Commissioner, Executive Team and the organisation. Considerable knowledge of effective and contemporary investigation approaches, the laws of evidence, and the practice and procedure in the Magistrates, County and Supreme courts and VCAT is required. Provision of expert legal advice and litigation services provided at a senior level in a public sector context will well regarded.

To be eligible for this position you must be an Australian citizen, hold a Current Legal Practising Certificate, and be admitted, or are eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria.
