Position Details

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is seeking two qualified building surveyors or those with significant progression towards this qualification, to deliver administrative and technical services to the Building Appeals Board (BAB) and the public to support the functions of the BAB, as set out in the Building Act 1993.

Modifications Officers are responsible for delivering the administration and technical functions of the modifications processes for the BAB. Modifications Officers are also responsible for preparing documentation, assessing applications, and providing general regulation and legislative advice to internal and external stakeholders.

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • tertiary qualifications (minimum: Diploma or Advanced Diploma) or current studies in building surveying and some relevant professional experience in a similar role,
  • good knowledge of the building control system in Victoria and knowledge of and ability to interpret legislation and regulations,
  • excellent administration skills with good written communication, and
  • strong customer service skills with the ability to provide information and assistance to consumers and practitioners.

Salary Details

Base Salary, Grade 3, within range of $67,866 - $82,404 per annum (plus 9.5% super), will be negotiated with the successful candidate, depending on skills and experience.
