Position Details

The Victorian Building Authority (VBA) is leading the Victorian Statewide Cladding Audit on behalf of the Victorian Government. The project's focus is on reducing the fire safety risk of buildings found to have combustible cladding.

We are looking for a passionate and driven people leader to join our Corporate Governance and Major Projects team as Team Leader – Operations. The position will be responsible for leading a team of field-based Building Inspectors to complete high quality and reliable inspection reports to ensure the safety of building occupants.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a unique and large-scale program of works in which Victoria is leading the charge. Develop your technical skills, educate your team and help deliver safe out comes for Victoria.


  • Managing and communicating with field staff, responding to Technical and procedural enquiries.
  • Coordinating the provision of technical reports, reviewing and providing feedback where required.
  • Oversee the scheduling of inspections and panels by the scheduling team (in line with the VBA's risk-based inspection regime).

Key Selection Criteria

To be successful in this position, you will need to demonstrate:

  • Substantial knowledge of the building industry, the regulatory framework, codes, regulations and standards in Victoria and/or other Australian jurisdictions.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to provide high-level advice, ministerial briefings and relevant documentation.
  • Ability to proactively identify opportunities for generating workplace innovation, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and taking responsibility for initiating outcomes.

Salary Details

A base salary in the VPS Grade 6 $118,908 - $139,017 + 9.5% super
