Senior Policy Officer – Petroleum Regulation

  • $98,396 - $119,052 (Plus Superannuation)
  • Fixed Term – until 30 October 2020 
  • Usual hours of work: Full Time (flexibility may be available)
  • Usual work location: 1 Spring Street, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)

The position of Senior Policy Officer – Petroleum Regulation forms a part of the Resources Branch within the Rural & Regional Victoria Group.

The Rural and Regional Victoria Group works with councils, industry and businesses and primary produces to improve liveability and drive sustainable economic growth in rural and regional communities.

The Resources Branch develops policy, programs and regulation to enable investment and generate jobs through the sustainable development of the State's earth resources, including extractives, minerals and petroleum. 

The main key accountabilities for the role include:

  • Prepare Earth Resource Regulation's operational policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures and work instructions for petroleum operations and other functions of the regulator, including managing projects, conducting workshops to gather and analyse relevant information and seeking approvals to release completed documentation.
  • Prepare high level advice, briefings and correspondence regarding the regulation of petroleum operations and other functions of the regulator.
  • Deliver training for the adoption of the operating policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures and work instructions by internal and external users.
  • Evaluate the adoption of policies, guidelines, standard operating procedures and work instructions for petroleum operations and other functions of the regulator.
  • Develop and maintain constructive working relationships with Earth Resources Regulation colleagues, other units of the Resources, Forestry and Game Branch, the department's legal services and other Victorian public sector agencies, co-regulators and stakeholders to ensure effective, timely and authoritative advice on issues relating to Earth Resources Regulation activities.
  • Participate actively as a member of the regulator's whole team to support a collaborative and supportive work place.
