About the Opportunity

This Senior Fishery Manager works within the Fisheries Management Division, which is responsible for the development and implementation of management policies and arrangements to facilitate the sustainable use of Victoria's fisheries resources. 

The successful candidate will work constructively with the commercial and recreational fishing sectors, VFA management, policy, compliance and research staff and other stakeholders on the range of policy and management issues encountered.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will hold an appropriate tertiary qualification in a science related field, ideally in Natural Resource Management, or an equivalent level of experience.

As part of a collaborative team providing specialist advice and contributing to the conservation of marine aquatic ecosystems, your stakeholder engagement and communication skills will be critical to achieving strategic outcomes. Our ideal candidate will demonstrate the following:

  • An ability to implement and communicate policies, plans and guidelines for improving the management of Victoria's fisheries 
  • Proven analytical skills balanced by strong interpersonal skills to liaise on complex, sensitive issues
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Alignment to applying OH&S policy and ensuring a safe work environment

This position will require you to hold a valid Drivers' Licence and involves evening and / or weekend work.
