Position Details

Clinician - Offending Behaviour Programs (OBP)

  • Multiple fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions available
  • North West Metropolitan Area – Melbourne CBD (covers an area from Carlton to Melton to Broadmeadows)
  • Earn between $82,574 - $93,689 per annum + super

Play a critical role in keeping the Victorian community safe by influencing positive change in individuals with offending behaviour. About us

Our team of clinicians work with a broad array of complex and challenging offenders, both serving Community Corrections Orders and prison sentences across Victoria. These individuals have varying criminal and behavioural backgrounds requiring varied engagement and treatment pathways. 

Offending Behaviour Programs (OBP) focus on reducing an offender's risk of re-offending. OBP makes a direct positive impact on the safety of the Victorian community. OBP uses interventions to reduce violence, to inspire motivation to change, to improve emotion management and to address other offence-related topics.

As a Clinician you will:

  • apply a cognitive-behavioural approach, supported by evidence-based techniques and varying interventions including psycho-educational and therapeutic group programs
  • provide risk assessments, clinically interview clients and determine appropriate treatment pathways
  • prepare treatment and risk assessment reports and plans for stakeholders, such as the Adult Parole Board
  • apply key therapeutic frameworks to guide assessment and treatment recommendations
  • actively contribute to ongoing research and training on the assessment and treatment of offenders
  • deliver mainly group-based offending behaviour programs including offence-specific and offence-related interventions.

You do not need to be experienced in working with the offender population. We are looking for Clinicians who are able to apply their well-developed clinical skills to complex clients.

Registration requirements

To be eligible, you must either:

  • hold general registration as a psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Registration Agency (AHPRA)
  • be eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
  • be credentialed as a mental health nurse with the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses or
  • be registered as an occupational therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

You are also required to hold a valid drivers' licence.
