Position Details

Museum Victoria is seeking to recruit a number of new Customer Service Officers and Bookings and Enquiries staff at our 3 museums (Melbourne Museum, Scienceworks and Immigration Museum) to provide high quality service to our visitors.

Melbourne Museum will be hosting the Afghanistan: Hidden Treasures Exhibition from 22nd March so a number of casual staff are also required to manage the operations for this Touring Exhibition.

Ongoing positions available:

  • Customer Service Officers - Irregular part-time contracts, minimum 15 hours per week.  Located at Immigration Museum
  • Customer Service Officers - Irregular part-time contracts, minimum 15 or 20 hours per week.  Located at Melbourne Museum
  • Customer Service Officers - Irregular part-time contracts, minimum 15 hours per week.  Located at Scienceworks
  • Bookings & Enquiries Officer - One irregular part-time contract, minimum 15 hours per week as a Bookings and Enquiries Officer, based at Melbourne Museum but staff member will be required to work across the 3 museums.

Casual positions

  • Customer Service Officers - 12 casual positions.  Located at Melbourne Museum.

ABOUT THE POSITIONS:

Customer Service Officers deliver great service to our onsite visitors:

Duties include:

  • Warmly meet, greet and orientate all visitors to our museums
  • Inform our visitors about Museum services, programs and products
  • Operate a computerised ticketing system and handling of admission monies
  • Positively resolve any customer issues or complaints
  • Deliver public tours and deliver briefings to our Education audience

Bookings and Enquiries Officers deliver great service to our telephone, online and social media visitors:

Duties include:

  • Inform our visitors about Museum services, programs and products
  • Process bookings for Museum Victoria programs and events
  • Operate a computerised ticketing and booking system and handling of admission monies
  • Warmly welcome and process our booked education groups as they arrive onsite 
  • Positively resolve any customer issues or complaints

We are seeking people who are effective communicators; are dedicated to providing great customer service; work well in teams; take a positive approach to resolving customer issues and have the confidence and ability to work in a busy environment. The Customer Service Officer roles involve regular walking and standing.

  • High level experience in computerised ticketing and/or booking systems is desirable for all advertised positions.
  • Experience in handling telephone, online and social media enquiries is desirable for the Bookings and Enquiries Officer position.
