About the role:
An opportunity has arisen to manage Victoria Legal Aid's Sunshine office and to lead our work in the western suburbs, providing high quality, responsive legal assistance services for the most socially and economically disadvantaged members of the community. You will provide effective management and leadership to a diverse team of dedicated and experienced lawyers, across the criminal, civil and family law areas. Located directly across the road from Sunshine Magistrates' Court, and within walking distance to the Sunshine railway station and bus interchange. Located in an area undergoing growth and change in legal need, this role provides an exceptional opportunity for an experienced lawyer to demonstrate leadership as part of a progressive and dynamic organisation committed to the delivery of effective legal services in the region and community.
You are an engaged leader with a passion for social justice and commitment to high quality legal services. You have substantial practising experience in one or more areas of criminal, family or civil law and understand the current policies, issues and challenges facing the justice system and legally aided clients. You inspire confidence, easily build rapport and have the energy and ability to drive change and develop the skills and expertise of a diverse legal team. You will be an innovative leader, with the capacity to contribute to our vision and values by continually striving towards improving client services and managing budgetary objectives.
