Position details

About the role:
Part of a team of legal assistants, you will play a pivotal role in supporting our lawyers involved in criminal law matters by providing a wide range of legal administration duties. You will also assist our clients with general enquiries and work with external legal practitioners and community legal centres to ensure the needs of our clients are met. Other duties will include but are not limited to; email, diary management and bookings, maintaining client database and case management system, and general administrative duties, including court clerking.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced administrative assistant to be part of VLA's largest state wide program and contribute to the effective and efficient delivery of quality services across the state.

About you:
We are seeking self motivated and enthusiastic candidates who take pride in their work and are passionate about the work of VLA.

You will have experience providing administrative and client services in a high pressure environment with proven skills in producing quality administrative work, working under limited direction, managing multiple priorities and meeting tight deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of work. Experience providing administrative and client services within legal services will be highly regarded.

Crucial to your success in this role will be your highly developed verbal and written communication skills and ability to provide exceptional customer service to our vulnerable clients and other stakeholders in person and over the phone. You will be a team player, with the ability to maintain a positive outlook in a high-pressure environment. You will also demonstrate a willingness to learn and contribute to the promotion of our organisation's vision and values.
