About the roles:
Our Morwell office is currently seeking three lawyers to join our dedicated and supportive team working to improve legal aid services across the Gippsland region. These are great opportunities to advance your advocacy skills and engage in interesting and challenging work.
Two opportunities exist for Criminal Lawyers to act as advocates by providing high quality legal services including legal advice, duty lawyer services, casework, and representation. You will undertake negotiation and dispute resolution on behalf of clients relating to criminal law and family violence matters.
A further opportunity is available for a Lawyer, Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) to act as an advocate and provide high quality legal services with a focus on criminal law and family violence matters in the ARC and related hearings.
You will have extensive in-court advocacy experience, strong dispute resolution skills and proficiency in handling challenging case work. Crucial to your success in one of these roles will be your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to develop effective professional relationships with clients and community partners. You will also demonstrate a strong commitment to human rights, social justice and our values of fairness, care and courage.
The successful applicant for the Lawyer, ARC role will also bring demonstrated commitment to the use of therapeutic and problem-solving approaches within the criminal justice system.
