About the role:
You will act as an advocate by providing advice in complex migration law matters, with a particular focus on judicial review of administrative decisions. You will provide duty lawyer services at the Federal Circuit Court, and various tribunals, as well as instructing at all levels of the Commonwealth courts. You will also assist the Program Manager to advocate for systemic changes to law and policy to improve access to justice.
You will work collaboratively with local partners and agencies to contribute to community engagement initiatives, community legal education projects and law reform, with an understanding of issues impacting the justice system.
You will have sound knowledge and experience in civil law, in particular migration law, and an understanding of court procedures. You will have the ability to provide practical and strategic advice on legal and policy issues, including a sound understanding of external organisations, community and welfare groups, and the role they play in legal aid services.
You will have high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive professional relationships and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and clients at all levels.
Crucial to your success in this role will be your collaborative approach and sound team work skills.
