About the role:
We are seeking a Lawyer to join our team in providing high quality legal aid services to clients across the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Based at our Sunshine office, you will appear as an advocate by providing legal services including duty lawyer services, casework and advice services in local courts and outreach locations, predominantly in criminal law and family violence matters.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage in interesting and at times complex work aimed at improving legal aid services across the Western suburbs of Melbourne. The varied and interesting work mix will allow you to accelerate the development of your advocacy skills.

About you:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical experience in providing quality legal services, predominately in criminal law and family violence related matters.
  • Effective casework and advocacy skills, including highly developed skills in dispute resolution.
  • An understanding of the role of external organisations, private practitioners, community and welfare groups in the delivery of legal aid services.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and your demonstrated commitment to working collaboratively with others and fostering a supportive team environment.
