About the role:
We are seeking a Senior Lawyer to join our Morwell team in providing high quality legal aid services to clients across the Gippsland region.

As the Senior Lawyer, you will coordinate and ensure the provision of duty lawyer and casework services to the Assessment and Referral Court (ARC) in Morwell and provide expert legal advice, conduct complex casework and appear as an advocate for clients in ARC and other courts, as appropriate. In this role you will provide legal supervision, mentoring, training and contribute to the professional development of less experienced lawyers. 

About you:

  • Significant knowledge and practical experience in criminal law, including the preparation and appearance in complex litigation and the use of therapeutic and problem-solving approaches in the criminal justice system.
  • High-level interpersonal skills, including the ability to form productive professional relationships and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to supervise, mentor and contribute to the development of other team members in relation to ARC matters
  • A collaborative and team-centred approach, with a genuine interest in fostering a positive team environment to enable the best client service delivery possible.
