Permanent, fixed term and casual contracts available

Salary range $65,000 - $90,000

We are currently seeking qualified Midwives to join our Rotamah Midwifery Team to provide safe midwifery and nursing care that achieves quality maternal and neonatal outcomes. Applicants will work in the Rotamah ward, being our primary midwifery service.  Rotamah is a 17 bed Midwifery, Paediatric and General Medical ward, providing a diverse mix of patient care requirements.  Midwives, Registered and Enrolled Nurses work together to provide excellent care for the whole client cohort, with midwives providing the majority of maternity care.   The midwifery unit also incorporates Team Midwives who work under a Collaborative Model of Maternity Care providing an accessible service from our CBD clinic.  As a primary midwife, you will oversee the planned care of the client and enable a collaborative relationship between the midwifery team, GP and the client.

Applicants will demonstrate:

  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife. 
  • Competence in general clinical nursing with a good understanding of and commitment to providing patient centred care
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to problem solve, apply the escalation of care principles and be able to facilitate the escalation of care process
  • Qualification as a Lactation consultant would be well-regarded
  • Recent experience in a range of midwifery settings
  • Proven competency in all areas of the pregnancy and birth care as well as proven ability to operate confidently across antenatal, intra-partum and post-natal services.
  • An understanding of legislation relevant to midwifery practice

As of April 2019, substantial salary increases will be applied to a number of Nursing roles under the applicable Victorian Public Health Sector Nurses and Midwives Enterprise Agreement.
