Position Details

HOURS: Part Time, 32.0 hours per fortnight

STATUS: 3 Year Position (To be reviewed annually according to funding agreement)

DEPARTMENT:   Clinical Operations

 

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a background in working with cancer or urology patients to join our Oncology Nursing team at BRHS.  This role provides a great opportunity to work closely with clients and their families and use your expertise and passion to further develop a highly coordinated approach to cancer care delivery to patients in our region.

The role will work in partnership across all health areas and sectors including non-government agencies to contribute to the continuity and quality of care for patients diagnosed with prostate cancer. The Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurse will provide a coordinated, evidence based, seamless, patient focused approach to support men with prostate cancer and their families.  The position will also have a focus on community education requiring collaboration with community organisations and external services to ensure effective health promotion and awareness occurs.

This position is for a period of three years and will be reviewed annually according to funding agreement.

 

The ideal applicant will demonstrate:

  • Minimum of five years' post graduate experience including at least 2 years' experience working with cancer or urology patients.
  • Advanced level skills in cancer and/or urological nursing
  • Experience providing education to patients and other health care professionals and an ability to demonstrate an understanding of adult learning
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary context
  • Proven leadership qualities with the capacity to work independently
  • A willingness to undertake post graduate prostate cancer nursing study within twelve months of commencing this role
