Position Details

Full Time, Ongoing Role

 

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced and qualified gardener to join our Facilities team in this permanent full time position.  

In this role you will work as part of a small team of trade and non-trade qualified staff to carry out general grounds and garden maintenance including the preparation, cultivation and maintenance of all hospital gardens. In addition you will perform handyperson work such as basic woodwork, painting and vehicle checks as required.  

The BRHS Facilities Department is responsible for providing essential services, planned and breakdown maintenance support to all Bairnsdale Regional Health Service owned and operated facilities as well as managing the BRHS vehicle fleet.  

 

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • Minimum Certificate III or IV in Horticulture or similar discipline;
  • Experience performing grounds and gardens maintenance;
  • Basic trade skills such as carpentry, painting, mechanical and experience using associated tools and equipment
  • Ability to work and participate effectively within a multi-disciplined team environment;
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision;
  • Verbal and written communication skills of a good level;
  • Commitment and flexible approach to learning and performing new procedures, functions and tasks;
  • Strong quality and customer focus;
  • Good organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise workloads and tasks;
  • Sound computer/tablet skills;
  • Trade qualification in mechanical or building trade is desirable;
