What you will do

As Financial Assistance Scheme (FAS) Intake and Triage Officer, you will review applications and help victims access financial assistance. You will work directly with victims and their support people to help progress their applications.

You will:

• provide clear advice about evidence needed to assess applications.
• review applications and identify their priority and complexity under policies and guidelines.
• make interim decisions using evidence to respond to immediate needs.
• communicate with victims in a sensitive, trauma-informed and culturally safe way.
• request information, make referrals and manage payments to help applications progress.

About you

A relevant qualification or experience in community services, social work, criminology, psychology, victim services or family violence is desirable.

You should also have:

• experience supporting victims or people affected by trauma, with a sensitive and respectful approach.
• strong knowledge of trauma-informed practice, victim services and the impacts of family violence and sexual assault.
• a commitment to cultural safety and better outcomes for Aboriginal people through self-determination.
• strong communication skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations, solve problems and work with others.
