What you will do
As Budget and Finance Analyst, you will provide financial advice and support across the department.
You will help teams manage their finances, meet their duties and improve how they work.
You will:
- support accurate month-end work, including accruals, journals, pre-payments and capital reports
- prepare clear financial reports that show each group's financial position
- give practical advice on finance policies, processes and project needs
- prepare and review high-quality briefs for ministers and senior leaders
- spot issues, suggest useful improvements and help deliver finance projects
About you
You do not need a mandatory qualification for this role. A relevant qualification in policy, strategy or finance is desirable.
You should have:
- public sector finance experience, with a good understanding of financial management
- strong analytical and research skills, with a practical approach to solving problems
- advanced Excel skills, including formulas, pivot tables and data charts
- clear communication and teamwork skills, with respect for people from diverse backgrounds
