About the Opportunity
The Media and Communications Officer is a key contributor to the Brand and Audience Development team at State Library Victoria, supporting the delivery of dynamic communication initiatives that highlight the Library's programs, services, and achievements.
In this role you will assist with creating and distributing engaging content, implementing communication plans, collaborating with stakeholders, and maintaining essential administrative processes.
Your day-to-day activities include media monitoring, drafting media and communications materials, managing schedules, tracking campaign activities, and ensuring all outputs align with the Library's brand and strategic goals. As Media and Communications Officer, you'll play an integral role in enhancing audience engagement, driving awareness of the Library's impact and maintaining its reputation as a trusted and innovative institution.
About You
The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of media, corporate communication, and marketing principles combined with proven expertise in professional writing and verbal communication. Your knowledge of industry best practices ensures you can effectively contribute to creating impactful messaging that aligns with the Library's strategic objectives.
In addition, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline required (e.g. communications, public relations, marketing, professional writing) or equivalent work experience.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing communications to create demand, engagement, and awareness, preferably in a marketing, media or corporate communications role.
- Demonstrated experience producing high-quality written communication to deliver key messages for a variety of outputs.
- A successful track record in production and timely delivery of projects and assets in a similar environment.
- A proven track record of success in establishing and maintaining outstanding relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including developing and maintaining strong media relationships.
- A strong track record of managing administrative responsibilities, including campaign tracking, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring the completion of tasks within designated timeframes.
