About this role
The Senior Water Monitoring Coordinator will lead a team of water monitoring coordinators responsible for delivering state-wide water monitoring programs on behalf of the department and key stakeholders. You will lead the delivery of surface water, laboratory and groundwater monitoring and maintenance projects and coordinate data on behalf of partners. You will possess strong analytical, conceptual, written and verbal communication skills. You will possess the ability to build and maintain strong relationships and key internal and external stakeholders and service providers. Previous water monitoring and operational coordination experience is highly desirable.
This is an excellent opportunity to combine your technical water/monitoring expertise with a leadership position in the Water and Catchments Group. The role sites within an experienced and supportive team that prides itself on providing support and growth to all members. This position will boost our technical and oversight capacity to deliver our extensive Regional Water Monitoring Partnership monitoring at around 2500 sites for over 58 organisations. It will ensure a sustainable network of surface, ground and water quality monitoring is achieved to meet partner needs for water resource, flood and water quality management.
The ideal candidate will have technical skills in water science, monitoring and/or data systems with previous water sector, hydrology or hydrogeology experience and well-developed interpersonal skills for managing your team and working collaboratively to develop, assess and implement responsive solutions to emerging water monitoring issues.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- Relevant qualifications in science, water resource management or equivalent would be desirable
- Experience with water monitoring program management and data systems
- Previous water sector and hydrology experience is highly desirable
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within with hybrid work arrangements available.
