Natural Environment Program Officer

About this role

The Natural Environment Program Officer provides high quality environmental advice to support decision making for statutory, environment related assessments and for the management of public land in line with DEECA business and operational priorities. The role combines technical biodiversity related knowledge with well-developed problem-solving, collaboration and outcome-focused skills to minimise risk to Victoria's natural environment for communities, while supporting priority projects and programs in Victoria's regions.

Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications

An appropriate tertiary qualification related to natural resource management or other relevant field.

• Demonstrated ability to apply environmental and biodiversity assessment processes, focused on biodiversity risk management, native vegetation policy, and related legislation.
• Understanding of public land management as it relates to forests and fires and mitigation of risks to threatened species.

This is a fixed term position available until 31 January 2026. The work location for this position is flexible within the Grampians Region, with hybrid work arrangements available].
