Policy Officer - Water Sector Decarbonisation

About this role
The Project Officer will work as part of the broader team to develop and deliver policies and programs relating to the achievement of an ambitious emissions reduction program for the sector. You will research issues and prepare draft reports and briefings, seek and report on stakeholder views, and use your knowledge of relevant legislation, regulation, policy and process to support positive outcomes for government and communities. This role will work closely with the circular economy program due to the strong links between the sector's circular economy and decarbonisation transitions.
An ideal candidate would have a strong interest in Victoria's water sector, climate change, and renewable electricity and be willing and eager to learn. The candidate would ideally have a strong foundation in some core government sklills related to (but not limited to) provide administrative support, undertake stakeholder engagement, and prepare written briefs. The candidate would also be committed to a friendly and positive working culture and be willing to work closely with our friends in the water sector circular economy and compliance reform teams (given the close relationships between our work streams)
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- An appropriate tertiary qualification or experience in science, public policy, natural resource management or similar.
- Knowledge of water, emissions reduction or climate change policy is desirable but not essential.
This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson St, East Melbourne; Flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
