About this role
We are seeking a motivated and capable professional to coordinate project and regulatory policy inputs into Agriculture Victoria's Exotic Disease Animal Preparedness Program and plant biosecurity responses. The focus of this work is ensuring the legislative framework, associated policies and initiatives underpinning exotic animal disease (EAD) and plant biosecurity responses, are supported by effective preparedness activities.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience delivering complex projects in a government or regulatory setting, along with strong stakeholder engagement, communication and organisational skills. They will be confident managing timelines and deliverables, developing capability-building resources, and working across teams and government agencies to ensure projects align with broader legislative and operational priorities.
We're looking for someone with a strong work ethic who takes initiative and demonstrates accountability. A positive, ‘can-do' attitude is essential, along with a commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, responsiveness, and flexibility. The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with experience leading or contributing to complex policy projects.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
- A relevant tertiary qualification in project management, emergency management, veterinary science, agricultural science, environmental science, public health, or a related field is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering complex projects in disease preparedness, biosecurity, emergency response, or a related context.
- An understanding of emergency animal disease (EAD) or plant biosecurity responses is advantageous, as is the ability to translate technical subject matter into practical tools, processes or activities for implementation.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is Attwood (flexibility may be available) with hybrid work arrangements available.
