Position Details
About the role
The Geriatric Medicine Registrar at SWH will have direct but shared responsibility for the treatment of geriatric patients at SWH. They will provide medical assessment and management as member of the multi-disciplinary team in the Geriatric department. The position will enable an effective and active role in the Geriatric assessment and discharge planning of patients resulting in best possible outcome for the patient and their families.
This position is a fixed-term full time role for 12 months and is available for application via either:
- RACP Geriatric Medicine Advanced Trainee Victoria PMCV match (7 July - 25 July 2025) and/or
- Victorian Geriatric Medicine Training Program (VGMTP) - Regional Training Partnership (RTP)
Regional training partnership (RTP)
SWH has established a regional training partnership (RTP) with St Vincent's Hospital, Melbourne (SVHM, metro site). RTP position provide a unique combination and training opportunity with a blend of exposure to rural healthcare along with training at partner Metro site. We are offering one RTP position for ATs (1 year at SWH and 1 year at SVHM based on satisfactory performance). RTP position is offered to ATs outside of PMCV match and is fully endorsed by VGMTP.

The successful applicant will hold current Registration Certificate of the Medical Practitioners Board of Australia and is able to demonstrate a commitment to providing safe, high quality patient care with a view to ongoing learning and self-development.
Excellent communication skills and an ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams are essential to the success of this position.
