About the Opportunity
The Exhibitions Operations Officer supports the Exhibition Production Team with planning, administration and operational logistics for a range of exhibitions, projects and public installations. The role reports to the Manager, Exhibitions Production and works closely with the wider Exhibitions team, including the curatorial and collections teams as well as technical specialists.
The Exhibitions Operations Officer is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders regarding end-to-end exhibitions matters.
- Contributing to small-scale gallery rectifications and implementing maintenance plans.
- Assisting Producers of large, complex exhibition projects, including documentation support.
- Maintaining and updating schedules, databases and files.
- Building successful working relationships with networks and collaborating across the Library.
- Responding to enquiries and providing accurate and up-to-date information.
- Complying with State Library Victoria's policies, procedures, legislation and regulations.
About You
The ideal candidate has had exposure to public art projects, multimedia or other visitor experiences in a cultural institution context. Your professional sector knowledge includes health and safety considerations for the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions and visitor experiences. Your understanding of the associated documentation enables you to manage logistics and timelines, coordinate resources and seek efficient ways of operating when communicating with specialists in the sector.
In addition, you will bring:
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (such as project management) or equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the development and delivery of different styles of exhibitions, multimedia projects, public art projects or other visitor experiences, preferably in an arts and collecting organisation or visitor attraction environment.
- Demonstrated technical skills and experience in supporting logistics for safe and effective display, design and layout, logistics, installation, and deinstallation of exhibitions or similar public projects.
- Demonstrated experience supporting project administration, including coordination of timelines, budgets, resources, procurement and supporting contracting within a procurement framework.
- A track record of compliance with OHS, and a record of continuous improvement, including learning and building on existing skills on the job.
- A track record of successfully building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
