About the Business Unit:
The Judy Lazarus Transition Centre (JLTC) is a secure residential facility that aims to reduce re offending. The Centre provides eligible, motivated prisoners with access to resources and support to help them reintegrate back into the community.
About the Role:
The role of the Transition Officer is to provide intensive case management to allocated residents while contributing to the daily operations of the Centre.
Some of your duties will include:
- Effectively case-managing allocated residents
- Engendering a positive culture and environment that supports behaviour change
- Demonstrating motivational interviewing principles and skills

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in managing complex cases, including proven assessment, intervention and communication skills
- The ability to accept changed priorities without undue discomfort. Responds quickly to changes. Comfortable working in collaboration with teams outside of own organisation
- The ability to resolves issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines and the initiative to act where and when guidelines are not available
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A full and current Victorian driver's licence or a minimum P2 driver's licence.
- Qualifications in the social sciences or community service and at least 2 years' experience in case management is desirable. Successful applicants who have not already done so will be required to complete some modules of the prison officer pre-service training prior to commencement in the role
