The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Family Violence Information Sharing Projects Officer to provide a critical role within Custodial Operations.
About the Business Unit
CV is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's prison system and Post Sentence Scheme. As a service agency within the Department of Justice & Community Safety, CV develops and implements operational policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of prisoners, and that seek to rehabilitate them by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
The System Performance Branch, within the Custodial Division of CV, is responsible for a range of work across all prisons. Its responsibilities include convening state-wide managers' meetings, performance monitoring and reporting, incident reporting, responding to family violence queries, oversight of reviews and investigations, policy review and development, auditing, correspondence, management of the multi-faith chaplaincy services, and general advice to prisons and other departmental staff. The Branch includes three main teams (Operations Directorate, the Monitoring, Standards and Reporting Unit and Litigation & Coronial Matters) as well as other staff, and directly reports to the Deputy Commissioner, Custodial Operations, providing authoritative, strategic advice, and briefing papers on a range of correctional issues.
About the Role
This role is required to support the Operations Directorate, on behalf of the Deputy Commissioner, Custodial Operations with matters relating to prisons and family violence. This will include managing prisoner-related correspondence, liaising with other units internal and external to Corrections Victoria, CJS and the department about family violence information sharing, providing advice to prison staff about family violence matters, and representing the System Performance Branch at various meetings.
Some of your duties will include:
- Respond to external requests for information relating to family violence matters, which will involve the use of corrections applications such as PIMS, E-Justice, Centurion and specific databases; liaison with prison and Community Correctional Services (CCS) operational staff, as well as various DJCS staff and Information Sharing Entities.
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative reviews on prison operations related to the family violence in prisons framework, using a knowledge of prison policy in a custodial sense.
- Maintain local database, that allows analysis and reporting of data, including the provision of monthly information about the number of requests received and responded to.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Sound knowledge of the Victorian prison system, including the functions of CV
- Experience using CV's information systems including PIMS, E-Justice and Centurion
