About the Business Unit:
Payroll Services is a function within the People, Safety and Culture group and is responsible for delivering payroll services including taxation, superannuation, salary sacrifice, processing of timesheets (manual and electronic) and the provision of advice to managers and employees. Accuracy and attention to detail is critical as are excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
About the Role:
Working in a team environment, Payroll Officer(s) are responsible for the delivery of high-quality payroll services to managers and employees encompassing the processing of pay and benefits for a portfolio of business units across the department and statutory entities.
Some of your duties will include:
- Preparation and processing of the fortnightly payroll and undertake transactions relating to employment conditions and benefits
- Updating and maintaining associated personnel and payroll records
- Identifying and preparing documentation regarding salary overpayments and recovery

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in human resource services and payroll, with an emphasis on remuneration packaging in a government environment
- Experience and proficiency in the use of CHRIS21 or other payroll systems
- Experience in high volume transactional payroll environment(s)
- Ability to interpret and provide advice on departmental policies and legislation.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A relevant qualification or working experience is highly desirable.
