About Us:
Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is part of the Police, Victims, Racing and Coordination Group within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). VSSR is responsible for the delivery and reform of services to victims of crime, placing victims at the centre of the justice system.
In addition to providing direct services to victims of crime, VSSR leads the development and implementation of victim-related policy and program innovation within DJCS and across government. This includes working closely with other areas of DJCS, Justice entities, other government departments and external stakeholders.
About the Role:
The role of a Senior Consultant
- Provides high-quality victim-centric case management to participants of the scheme and supporting them through the application process.
- Works collaboratively with participants to develop support plans and assist them to navigate the schemes from initial engagement to transition and exiting.
- Maintains and enhances practice consistency with a focus on continuous improvement.
The role requires speaking with redress participants in a sensitive and trauma-informed manner as well as dealing with material that can be challenging and distressing and will best suit a candidate who is resilient and empathetic.
About You:
To be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrate:
- Significant experience in providing victim-centric case management to vulnerable individuals, with specialist knowledge in allied health, or working with victims of crime, abuse, sexual violence, and/or mental health.
- Highly developed client engagement and case formulation skills, including excellent communication skills.
- Ability to clearly articulate policy framework for the scheme and the unique support needs of this cohort.
Qualifications:
- A qualification and relevant experience in counselling, social work, or psychology.
- Previous experience in dealing with vulnerable people, providing victim support and case management is essential.
