About the role

South West Healthcare (SWH) is seeking a dedicated and experienced Psychologist to join the Pathways to Good Health (PTGH) program, an initiative designed to improve access to targeted health services for children and young people entering Out-of-Home Care (OoHC) in Victoria.

As a key member of the multidisciplinary PTGH team, you will contribute to a collaborative and trauma-informed approach to care. Working alongside a paediatrician and speech pathologist, your role will involve conducting single-session assessments and providing evidence-based treatment recommendations. You will jointly develop Health Management Plans to support the physical, emotional, and developmental needs of children in care.

This role involves liaison and consultation with Child Protection practitioners, carers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated, responsive, and timely interventions. Services are delivered in a flexible and accessible manner, including outreach to schools, early learning centres, and residential care settings.

This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact in the lives of vulnerable children and young people through early identification of health and developmental needs and by shaping pathways to appropriate care and support.

Position overview

  • Employment Type: Part-time (16 hours per fortnight), Fixed term funded position until June 2027

  • Salary Range: $108,279.60 - $123,905.60 pro rata, plus superannuation

What you bring

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA, with Clinical endorsement or enrolment in the Registrar program.
  • Postgraduate qualification (minimum Master's) in Clinical Psychology from an APAC-accredited university.
  • Minimum 5 years' clinical experience, including demonstrated skills in child and adolescent mental health care.
  • Experience in trauma-informed care, with a strong understanding of child development, attachment, and family dynamics.
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and write clear, concise reports for a range of audiences.
  • Strong collaboration skills with experience working in multidisciplinary teams and engaging key stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with child protection systems, out-of-home care, and services supporting vulnerable families.
  • Experience using TrakCare and CAReHR (desirable).
  • A genuine passion for improving health outcomes for children and families in a rural/regional setting.
