About the Business Unit:
Located at Castlemaine, Loddon Prison is a 477-bed medium security prison for sentenced male prisoners. Adjacent to Loddon Prison is Middleton, a 236-bed restricted minimum-security prison for sentenced male prisoners. The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and also the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Both prisons provide contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration.
About the Role:
As a Disability Case Manager, you will be part of the Offender Services team to deliver a range of pre-release planning services for prisoners with an intellectual/cognitive disability. You will work directly with prisoners and assist prison staff in the management of prisoners with an intellectual /cognitive disability.
Some of your duties will include:
- Championing the principle of equivalence, which requires that offenders with a disability have the same rights of availability, access and quality of services to those of disabled non‐offenders, and that the needs of prisoners and offenders with a disability need to be addressed on the basis of equity and a non‐discriminatory approach, to reduce re‐offending
- Delivering services to people with a disability in line with the guiding principles and policies.
- Developing and providing complex living skills and social skills training in daily living activities for individuals or groups of people with a disability including the provision of personal and self-care activities such as general house duties, food preparation, and maintenance of personal hygiene.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Demonstrated experience in working with people with cognitive impairments
- Desirably, a qualification in social sciences or an area of study related to disability
- An understanding of the challenges involved in working within a forensic environment.
