About the Business Unit:
Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC) is a maximum-security remand facility based in the Western Suburbs of Melbourne. Prisoners on remand are alleged offenders who were not bailed when charged with a crime and are awaiting the outcome of their court case. The Metropolitan Remand Centre is a maximum-security facility for unsentenced male offenders located within the West Metropolitan Region, Department of Justice, and Community Safety. At the Metropolitan Remand Centre (MRC), each Justice Officer role specialises in one of five streams – Records/Property, Human Resources, Stores/Canteen, Infrastructure/Technology/Finance and Administration. Over time, and with appropriate support and training, Justice Officers may be rotated between these streams to provide career enhancement opportunities to those staff, and operational flexibility to the prison.

In the role of the Justice Officer – Mail Room, some fo your duties will include:

- Providing accurate advice and information in relation to justice services, specifically mail processes in accordance with business processes
- Delivering justice services and maintaining accurate, confidential records in line with agreed standards and local operating procedures
- Providing a range of high quality, confidential and efficient administrative services and support
This position requires direct prisoner contact and may involve weekend and public holiday work, remunerated in accordance with the applicable provision of the VPS Determination.

- Well-developed computer literacy.
- Good knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, procedures, guidelines and regulation
