The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Performance and Planning Manager to provide a critical role at Port Phillip Prison.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria, Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
Located at Truganina, Port Phillip Prison is a 20-bed maximum security Prison for prisoners who require care in a subacute care. Port Phillip Prison (St Johns Subacute Unit) provides a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to individualised care which motivates, encourages and promotes reintegration into the community.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager Port Phillip Prison, the Performance and Planning Manager is responsible for monitoring performance and compliance. The role develops and implements a program of continuous quality improvement by collating, analysing and evaluating a range of performance data and preparing commentary, reports and curative plans reflective of contemporaneous trends, risks and achievements. The Performance and Planning Manager works with other members of the Leadership Team to develop and acquit curative action plans strengthening the prisons' performance where required.
With a strategic focus, the Performance and Planning Manager assists the General Manager in the development and implementation of the business plan and associated action plans. The Performance and Planning Manager responds to complex complaints and legal matters, working effectively with a diverse and senior stakeholder group. The role researches and prepares high level correspondence as required and maintains detailed records on behalf of the General Manager. As a member of the prisons' Leadership Team, the Performance and Planning Manager leads by example and coaches and supports peers and work colleagues in the delivery of quality and compliant custodial services
Some of your duties will include:
- Analyse the prisons' performance against service delivery outcomes and compliance with relevant standards and key deliverables.
- Develop monthly performance reports with detailed commentary and lead the development and oversight of curative action plans as required.
- In conjunction with the General Manager, lead the development and implementation of the prisons' Business Plan and develop a system for monitoring and oversight of the acquittal of the plan.
- Research and prepare correspondence and/or reports on complex prisoner complaints and/or concerns regarding service delivery, working effectively with senior stakeholders
- Lead a culture of compliance and monitor systems of reporting compliance, leading strategies for improvement where required.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated ability to develop accurate and detailed correspondence on complex and sensitive issues.
- Demonstrated ability to analyse data from a range of sources for reporting and service delivery improvement purposes.
- Proficiency in the use of databases, information technology and reporting systems.
Qualifications/requirements
- Desirable: a tertiary qualification relevant to human service delivery in a prison environment.
