Position Details

Committee Manager

Department of the Legislative Council, Council Committees

  • PoV 6.1 $138,631 + 12% Superannuation
  • Ongoing, full-time opportunity

During a typical day you will be

  • Leading and coordinating the committee's research and inquiry work, including shaping the direction and design of investigations.
  • Conducting and overseeing high-level research and analysis on complex and sensitive issues to support committee deliberations.
  • Preparing high-quality reports, discussion papers, correspondence and summaries of evidence presented to the committee.
  • Liaising and negotiating with senior stakeholders across government, industry and the community, and briefing expert witnesses.
  • Managing and mentoring research and administrative staff and overseeing the smooth delivery of committee operations and projects.

You will be a great fit for this role if: 

You are an experienced professional who combines parliamentary knowledge with strong leadership and analytical skills. 

  • You have a sound understanding of Victoria's Westminster-style parliamentary system and its legislative and procedural frameworks.
  • You excel in designing, directing and delivering complex research projects and public inquiries.
  • You're a strategic thinker with strong analytical, writing and communication skills, able to convey complex ideas clearly.
  • You're an effective leader who mentors and develops high-performing teams while building strong stakeholder relationships.

What happens next
