What you will do
As senior adviser, freedom of information, you will manage complex freedom of information matters across the department.
You will support strong public service decision making and help meet legal obligations under the Freedom of Information Act.
You will:
- provide expert advice on the Freedom of Information Act to business areas and ministers' offices
- prepare clear briefings and written decisions for senior leaders
- manage complex freedom of information requests within required timeframes
- monitor changes in freedom of information and administrative law and apply them to daily work
- build effective working relationships across the department and support lawful information handling.
About you
A legal qualification is desirable. You should have experience applying legislation or making complex decisions under the Freedom of Information Act.
You should also have:
- strong knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and related legislation
- advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office and records systems
- calm judgement when handling pressure, sensitive matters and competing priorities
- clear communication skills and the ability to manage difficult conversations.
