What you will do
As industry officer, you will supervise prison industry work and help people build practical skills for future employment.
You will support safe daily operations while helping prisoners learn, work and grow in a structured environment.
You will:
- supervise prisoners working across horticulture and other prison industries
- train prisoners to safely use tools, machinery and equipment
- maintain safe workplaces by following occupational health and safety and security procedures
- monitor stock, tools, production targets and records with careful attention to detail
- support prisoner learning, assess performance and contribute to rehabilitation outcomes.
About you
Experience supervising people in a relevant industry is important. Experience or qualifications in horticulture are desirable. You must successfully complete Prison Officer pre-service training within six months of starting.
You should also have:
- strong supervisory skills and confidence using modern equipment
- sound computer skills and clear written communication
- good judgement with the ability to coach, support and motivate others
- respectful communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships.
