Manager, IT Infrastructure Technology
The Department of Parliamentary Services (DPS) is responsible for the provision of infrastructure resources and support services to Members of Parliament and parliamentary departments. DPS operates as a service provider to, and in close consultation with, the Department of the Legislative Assembly and the Department of the Legislative Council. The Information Technology (IT) team provides Information and Communications Technology (ICT) services through project delivery and IT operations support of the ICT environment. The IT Infrastructure Technology team is comprised of System, Network and Communications Administrators and Engineers, who deliver resilient cloud and internal IT operations through hybrid IT infrastructure service delivery.

About the role and team

The Infrastructure Technology team is a specialised unit of engineers and administrators dedicated to delivering highly resilient cloud and on-premises services. As the Manager, IT Infrastructure Technology, you will step into a critical, hands-on leadership role balancing architectural vision with technical execution. You will go beyond day-to-day oversight, serving as the strategic anchor that evolves our enterprise platforms, drives modern engineering practices, and ensures our vital infrastructure is robust, secure, and future-ready.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership & Architecture: Provide hands-on leadership to the team, setting strategic direction and making key engineering decisions across network, communications and cloud and on-premises environments.
  • Platform Modernisation: Lead large-scale modernisation initiatives by applying platform engineering and design, network and communications engineering and design, and SRE principles to boost scalability, automation, and observability.
  • Governance & Standards: Establish and govern infrastructure standards, reference architectures, and infrastructure-as-code patterns aligned with contemporary systems delivery covering network and communications, cloud and on-premises compute and storage, and cybersecurity frameworks.

About you

We are looking for a forward-thinking technical leader who pairs deep technical expertise with a passion for mentoring and leading engineering teams.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • ITIL Foundations Certification.
  • Mandatory Certification (in at least one of the following): Microsoft Certified Azure Solutions Architect, CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Collaboration, or Certified Data Centre Professional.
  • Enterprise Infrastructure Expertise: Demonstrated experience designing, engineering, and governing resilient, secure, and automated hybrid/cloud-native infrastructure platforms at scale.
  • Modern Engineering Practices: Proven hands-on capability in deploying infrastructure-as-code (IaC), automation, and SRE methodologies.
  • Strategic Stakeholder Management: Highly developed communication skills with a proven ability to translate complex technical/architectural decisions into clear business outcomes for senior stakeholders.
