About the Role

Our Planned Surgery Unit is inviting applications from experienced and motivated Registered Nurses to join our team as a Surgical Liaison Nurse. This fixed term role offers an exciting opportunity for an internal candidate to further develop their specialist nursing expertise while playing a key role in coordinating care across the elective surgery pathway.

Working closely with consumers, surgeons, anaesthetists, theatre teams, unit managers and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will support and guide patients throughout their planned surgery journey, from pre-admission through to surgery and post-operative care. Drawing on your clinical knowledge, organisational skills and understanding of SWH services, you will help ensure a seamless, person-centred experience while contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality elective surgical care.

Position overview

• Fixed-term parental leave cover position
• Part-time 64 hours per fortnight, commencing September 2026 until May 2027
• Classification: Liaison Officer District Nursing
• Salary Range: $121,695.60 pro rata, plus superannuation

What you Bring

The successful applicant will hold current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, with experience in clinical leadership, surgical nursing and a commitment to ongoing professional development. You will have the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, with proven skills in assessing, planning and managing clinical care.

You will bring strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, advanced data management and computer capabilities, and a commitment to delivering person-centred care. You will also demonstrate the ability to contribute to quality improvement initiatives, achieve key performance indicators, and support the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality healthcare outcomes.
