Policy and Compliance Lead

About this role

What you will do

As policy and compliance lead, you will help shape clear procurement policy and guidance.

You will check how policies work, advise staff and lead improvements across the department.

You will:

• lead clear reviews of procurement policies, processes and related guidance
• provide sound procurement advice and help staff apply policies, standards and tools
• track actions from audits, reviews and policy changes, then check that teams complete them
• run regular audits to check policy use, identify risks and improve compliance
• prepare high-quality briefings, reports and advice while supporting committees, projects and key reporting.

About you

A relevant tertiary qualification is highly desirable, especially in procurement, supply chain, commerce, law or business administration. You should also understand government procurement and policy.

You can interpret rules, develop policy and solve complex problems. You can explain your advice clearly and stay calm under pressure.

You should also have:

• strong policy skills and the ability to write clear policies and guidance
• procurement knowledge and the ability to interpret laws, rules and government policies
• problem-solving skills that help you find practical answers when guidance is unclear
• clear communication and resilience, with the ability to adapt and lead through change.
